The world’s most powerful company.com has started out as a way to classify the “powerful” image of the world’s largest companies in the eyes of consumers.

The realization of that idea was to create a bidding contest/war between the biggest companies in the world in order for them to claim that title and prove to consumers that they actually had that power. The platform of that bidding war was the actual title/website of themostpowerfulcompany.com

What we did at first was to just create a page, with a central animation giving the main rules for the bidding process and detailing what the prize was. Then we created a poll to bring some interactivity with the users.

But as time went on, we realized that users did not feel implicated enough within the website and their vote did not count enough. We also realized that the guidelines and the why of the website were not expressed clearly on the page. Another repulsive factor was the color of the website, BLACK, which made it even more rigid.

Therefore we had to come up with a NEW CONCEPT with clear objectives:

-give out clear guidelines of what is this website for and place these strategically

-bring more interaction with the user

-create a more colorful and enjoyable website to surf on

Clear New Guidelines

-Companies bid to gain the hosting of the domain name for one year and therefore the title of the world’s most powerful company. The highest bidder wins.

-Their bids will be strengthened by the polls.

For example if Google bids 1000$ and they have 20% of the votes in the polls, they will get and extra 200$ which will place their bid at 1200$.

This way, users can participate in the bidding process and suport the companies they believe are the most powerful ones. Each IP address, meaning each user, will get 5 votes.

More Interaction withe User

-The user now participates in the bidding process

-2 times a week, we will add the profile or fun facts about the large companies that surround us (Microsoft, L’Oreal, Coca-Cola…). Those profiles will be shown on the website as well as on our Blog and will help users choose who to vote for and why. We will try to detail the reasons why each company is powerful and what influence it has on its industry, on its customers and on the world in general.

If i could get some feedback on how what colors would fit the “powerful” profile of the website it would be great.

The why of the how of this website

Here’s a wonderful article that has been written to explain what our website is all about:

“Google ? General Electric ? Gazprom ? Microsoft ? Ever wondered which of these was the most powerful company ? Which of these was ranked #1 in the charts.

Of course Forbes would give you its hearsay, based on its criterias, most of which are financially based. But come to talk about dominance on a market, some companies have their own distinctions.

Restricting to the world wide web, Google has un undisputable place as it is the starting place to the Internet for most people.

Now It would be interesting to see something based on people’s opinion, say like the grammy’s or oscars, where you have a community of people voting for which is the most powerful company. Furtherly add a pinch of Christies auctions. The companies would have to buy an entry ticket, bidding themselves into the game.

Have the auctions run 50 days and win a one-year title re-challenged year after year. Get into the competition, keep the track and run for the gold.

This is the idea behind The World’s Most Powerful Company. Created by three students from a reputed business school, the company aims to provide an alternative way to elect the most powerful company in the world, through auctions and polls.

The most important idea here is that the results are not financially driven but are rather the employees, customers and external observers’ view of the entreprise, their personal notes and ratings.

The winning company gets an interesting counterpart:

- One year free ad on the website

- The site’s design could be adapted to the winning company’s needs

- A guaranteed matching of the words “Most powerful company” to the company on most popular search engines

Although enterprises could raise their bid to increase their popularity, the polls mirror the real public opinion on the company, which represents a pretty good KPI of customer relationship.

The idea behind this concept is innovative. Coupling principles of collaboration with most prized web strategy and marketing actions as a reward, the idea should represent a real benefit to the winning company when exploited to its full extent, and ROI should be fast.

But most importantly, when you look deeper into this, it is not really the money generated through the ads that is the most important.The challenge is to be entitled as “the most powerful company”. The challenge is the capacity to keep the title over the years as it is put back into the arena year after year.

The running companies will be able to promote their image to a large user base through an unprecedented experience. Large campaigns could then be organized around this yearly summer event and have people vote for them.

What is the Most Powerful Company in the world ???

Here, on this weblog, we are going to post articles about the most powerful companies in the world that deserve to win the title of the most powerful company and enter the race!

You will be able to see arguments about the domination of Google over the Internet add industry, the domination of Microsoft and its drawbacks with Windows Vista or the constant rise of Apple as a great Challenger for the Title…

Of course we will not forget to mention oil companies, financial institutions, telecom providers etc…

-Wal-Mart will be a great topic to discuss because of its US dominance over its industry and throughout its supply chain but we are talking about Worldwide companies and we’ll observe the potential of newcomers:

-TATA from India in the Automotive industry or even Toyota’s invasion of the US market

-French companies and media groups such as LVMH

A lot will have to be discussed to understand who deserves, who will have the guts and who represents the word “POWERFUL” to their customers and to the World…
